Three bumpers, flat race and now hurdles win for Shanroe
he is still a little bit green; I brought him to England for hurdles experience after winning his three bumpers but he got brought down. It was the ideal and right thing to do with him but experience-wise, he just needed a couple of runs. The reason I ran him back so quick (after winning at Limerick) was there was nothing for him for five or six weeks and we were going to get safe ground today. I don't know what it is, but my horses don't seem to go around sharp tracks so he will probably avoid Galway with him; it's all about winners and we'll go where we can get one. I can't see him getting too much for winning today and we could also nip over to England if he is allowed travel.
600 pounds well invested as Skyace scores on debut for the Shark
I bought that mare out of Willie's (Mullins) for 600 quid; she was behind my horse Dime A Dozen twice, and I went over to the Sales to buy her. I couldn't believe I bought her for that sort of money. I don't know why she was so cheap, she had no injury and was 100 percent. The crowd who own her (Birdinthehand Syndicate) are from America. She jumped like a buck today but it was probably the worst three-mile maiden hurdle I've seen for a long long time, once you took the favourite Thunder Down Under (pulled up) out of it. We'll go for a handicap mark or look for a conditions' race next. Camlann was the last horse I had which cost 600 quid; unfortunately he broke down yesterday and more than likely will now be retired.
Slainte And Thanks scores for Ahern and Hayes
20/1 Tipperary brace for Thornton and Meyler
He is just a big raw horse and probably won't be a horse until next year,. He's a fine big horse but is by a show-jumping stallion, Golden Lariat; he doesn't have many horses but everything he has is ok. Noel McParlan (amateur jockey) told me about him and he is owned by two friends, P.J. Casey and Pat Blake. He's a grand fun horse and will come back here on Wednesday. It'll probably be next year before he becomes a horse but he probably wants that nicer ground as well.
Hanlon excited by Star after completing a Tipperary double
I think this lad is very special and I'll go as far as saying he is the best I've had since Hidden Cyclone,. He was just doing everything really well and will go to Galway for the winners' bumper. He has plenty of toe. I own him myself and I want to sell him to keep him in the yard. He was in training with John Gosden and is a well bred flat horse. He does everything right and is a great horse to jump.
