The Brother is "in right old form"
It cost Olly (Curtis, owner) a few pounds to get him back down to this mark but he's getting his confidence back. He was always a very strong traveller but wasn't picking up. He's in right old form at the minute. We'll let him freshen up a bit as he's had three quick runs. He'll keep going up until Christmas anyway.
"A bit fussy" but Hunaina is a winner now
She's been unlucky a couple of times, getting to the front and getting chinned,.
Lucky 13 for Nova
I actually thought it was a good draw for him today and that we'd hold him up and try something else with him as it was getting a bit frustrating,. He wouldn't have beaten the winner last time but there has been a few times he has been unlucky when he was getting to the front too soon and idling. Surely we can't get anything (from the handicapper) tonight as he's rated 82 and the second is 68. The idea was to try and win a race with him and let him off, but Declan said that's as good as he ever was. I've always had it in the back of my head that he'll get mile-and-a-quarter next season even though that was six tonight. I said to Declan he definitely stays. He'll definitely stay a mile and maybe a mile-and-a-quarter. I've always thought he's a premier handicap horse and hopefully he will be next season on decent ground. He's always been a hard horse to handle and very free. My brother Willie rides him all the time at home and is the only one that can ride him. That's why he trotted to the start. He's starting to settle though and settled today.
There's money in this Field
We seem to have another Dundalk specialist. That's his second win here. Carried was carrying the colours before now,. Obviously he likes the surface. He was consistent on the grass during the summer but obviously prefers it here. We'll keep him for it now, and he should have a nice campaign over the winter. . We'll keep him between seven furlongs and a mile. Seven is probably his optimum trip. Billy got his timing to perfection.
Three Majors at 16/1
Row aided by cheek-pieces
I was standing a furlong down, where I always stand, and thought he was going to win easy passing me. He toughed it out in the end,. He pulls up in front and that's why we have the cheek-pieces on him. Michael Finneran, manager of Roscommon racecourse, is involved in him, and it's great that he's won for him tonight. He does plenty of work at Roscommon so to get a winner for him is good.
Humour has connections in good form
1 outta 2 aint bad for Flynn and Mrs Cooney
That's great. I thought Twistsandturns (2nd in the 7.00, and a half-brother to Jessamine) would do it earlier for the owner. We were hoping the two of them would do it and at least we got one,. I'm glad she won it as she has a nice pedigree. Her mother (Shesthebiscuit) won six for us. She seems to like that surface and we'll keep her on the go here.
