Chicago School learning his trade well
Conor was very good on him. He's with me full time and joined us about two months ago. The key to this horse is just to let him find his feet and he'll come home. I was just a little bit afraid of stepping him back to five but in Newcastle he showed a lot of pace and if it had of been five in Newcastle he was a winner all day. I told Conor to jump him off and be very confident on him and whatever he's doing he's going to be finishing well. The horses are in good form and a lot of credit goes to the boys in the yard. I was away on holidays for two weeks and only got back on Sunday and they kept the whole ship going. It's good to have a good team behind me, between owners and staff. He'll come back here if he's not sold.
Plan comes to fruition for Adaliya
She had five runs and we said that we'd freshen her up a bit. I felt she'd win a fillies race over a mile and we picked out this race a good while ago and trained her for here. She got things her own way out in front and the cheek-pieces just helped her to concentrate. She travelled lovely and sweet but got a bit lonely out in front. It's a long way up the straight but Pat never really had to get serious on her. It's great to get a winning bracket as she's run some good races and she will probably have an entry in the February Sale.
Princess Yaiza two from two on sand
McCann and McGovern at double with Togoville
He's a good horse but he takes very little training and he was fairly right before he came to me. Things didn't work out the last day and I didn't think Conor was going to get to ride him. He rides him out every day at home but it was only when the weights went up after Gordon Lord Byron came out that he could ride him. A big thanks to Patrick McCann for having faith in me to send me the horse. He's very versatile trip wise but you just have to make a bit more use of him over five. Every time a horse comes to his girth he finds. He's a tough, tough horse and it's a pity we don't have another six or seven of him in the yard.
Rock On Dandy having a fine old time
We keep him off the gallops and keep him on the beach and it seems to suit him. It's brilliant to get the second win with him here and hopefully there is more to come. We may even drop him back a bit in trip as he seems to be versatile. Padraig was brilliant on him and really has the handle on him now.
Smullen drives Repare Mon home for his double
She won here twice before in the spring and stays well. The run last week probably just blew her out and left her spot on for tonight.
Wooster gets that winning feeling
Slattery rides first winner on Sharjah
We could have sold that horse several times to England but we kept him because we knew that Ben (Coen, nephew) and Andrew would be coming along riding. He's an ideal ride for a young lad starting off. That's his first winner so it's great. It's grand to get him off the mark and get him going. He's 16 and only weighs 6st 12lb in colours. He'll be able to claim off 8st4lbs, and hopefully he'll make into a nice rider next summer. He's still a little bit weak and raw but hopefully it'll come together. He's only riding three years as he'd no interest before that and he did a good bit of pony racing last year. He had about 15 winners and rode a winner in Dingle last year. A lot of lads at the pony racing wanted me to give him another year as he'd probably have been one of the best at it this year but I'd say he'd learn more around here than he would doing that. He's a very hard horse to get fit and the run over two miles the last day got him fit. You just couldn't get him fit at home. He'll probably run again here next Thursday night. He loves the surface. He won over hurdles this year but I just can't get the ground quick enough for him over hurdles.
