Indian Fairy get her just reward
She was knocking on the door and I kind of fancied her this evening. I was a bit worried about the track. Brian said more of a galloping track would suit her as she was just a bit flatfooted at the top. She stays well and I think she will be a mare for over fences as she jumps well. I think she is better than what she looked this evening, but she won and that's the main thing. She is in again on Sunday (a maiden hurdle) but obviously she can't run in that now.
Meldrum Lad gets race in stewards' room
I'd rather win it fair and square and it is hard luck on the people who own War Of The Pennys. I think he would have won easy had he got out (checked for room after the third last). The more I watched it the more I thought he should have got it. I know from riding in races myself that if you get a bump in that stage of a race it will cost you. We were hopeful beforehand as he is absolutely flying at home. We tried him over three miles at Tipperary but he just ran too free. We just said we would try the two mile today and he is improving and he seems to have plenty of pace. It is nice to see that he handles Tramore as well as it opens up a few more doors for him. We will see how he is in the morning but he takes his racing pretty well and he might reappear quick enough for another novice if I can find a suitable one. The fact that the two miles here wasn't an issue opens up a few more doors for him as well.
Swantykay gets his revenge in Tramore
Leahy and Walsh Pleased As Punch
Mark said to keep her for Listowel as she likes it there as well. He is a good pilot, but she gave him plenty of help in the last quarter mile. Going down the hill she looked sort of cooked, but she kept at it. She is consistent and I'm glad for her.
Behemoth worthy compensation for Sexton
He jumps a fence very well and that was the race for him. Kevin gave him a lovely positive ride. He galloped well to the line. He's in the sales and I'm just glad that he has won. We'll see how he goes in a handicap. He is definitely on the basis of that a better chaser. He jumped very well for just his second run over fences. He is rated 99 over hurdles and he just jumps a fence that bit better.
It's Red Or White in Tramore
I was expecting him to run well. He went back over hurdles for his last run or two just to give him a bit of confidence. His jumping just seemed to get a bit deliberate a few runs ago over fences so we just gave him a run or two over hurdles to give him a bit of confidence and it worked a treat! We have been lucky around here. He won a point-to-point for us and he just lost his way. We didn't think we would be at this stage with him twelve months ago. He will stick to these kind of races and these kind of trips and we will see what the handicapper will do. We will aim him maybe a grade above this next time but these are the kind of races for him and he wants this kind of ground.
Prickly puts the heat on his rivals
He was bought as a foal and I thought he was nice horse but I haven't had a bumper horse that has run any sort of a good race for quite a while. I was hopefully rather than confident coming here but I do think he is a nice horse with a lot of improvement in him.
