A query was raised to consider why Lucy Wadham was running Potters Legend (GB) here at Aintree on going described as Good, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Uttoxeter on 1 May 2021 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that having walked the course at Aintree, in her opinion the ground here was easier than described on this occasion and she was therefore happy for Potters Legend (GB) to take his chance.
The winner, Burbank (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Aintree on 10 April 2021 where the gelding finished fifteenth of sixteen runners, beaten by 104½ lengths over hurdles.
James Moffatt explained that Burbank (IRE) had benefitted from the reapplication of blinkers and further appreciated being able to race with an uncontested lead, on this return to chasing.
His comments were noted and the gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Ben Poste reported that Minellacelebration (IRE), placed fourth, made a bad mistake at the third last fence; the Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding lost its right-hind shoe.
Nico de Boinville reported that Versatility (GB), which was pulled up, ran flat.
