Mary Fields provides Hennessy with first track success
I train in Cappoquin and that's my first winner on the track, but I've had a few point-to-point winners before. I got into racing through hunting, I used to hunt and one thing just led to another. We fancied her big time today when the ground came quick. She has been waiting all year for quick ground and we just couldn't get it, everywhere we went it just kept coming up yielding.
Banjo calls the tune in Tramore
He lost his confidence a bit last year. He had a cracking good run in a novice chase at Roscommon when he was third and that seemed to upset him a little bit, he lost his way jumping.
Elegant Lass and O'Keeffe hold on
It's just great to see her doing that, particularly for her owner Leonard (Kinsella). He is a fantastic man and has great patience. A lot of owners wouldn't have stuck with her for that long. She was very hard work and was very excitable. She would lose the head but the jumping has worked wonders in just settling her. That's all she needed to do, settle down and relax into life and she has. She'll go for more of the same now and hopefully the handicapper won't kill her for that as she didn't win very far, it was hard work.
Trees Valley scores under Meyler
She ran well in Cork the last day but got hampered up the straight, she didn't get a clear run and would have finished closer. She is in again on Sunday here and she'll run. It's hard enough to get into races and she was lucky to get in today. She won a point-to-point at Lismore but had been disappointing all her life until now. It's only this year that she seems to be someway right in herself. I always thought a good bit of her but she just disappointed.
Burke and O'Keeffe double up with Yaiza
It's great to have a double. It's like the good old days. He was a bit unlucky here the last day, he got no run really. They went very steady and got bunched and he just had nowhere to go coming down the hill. It put him out of it.
Ruaille Buaille seals brace for Mullins
She was much more relaxed in the parade ring today. I think she came on for her run last month, she was one of our first ones to run. The strong gallop suited her today. She is out of the Hidden Cyclone pedigree. Tom Nugent is the man who heads the syndicate and he has the mare. Tom is a friend of mine from school, he is a good fella and I think they'll have a bit more fun with this one. There is a couple of mares' winners' bumpers coming up but we might just go straight hurdling with her while the ground is nice. We'll see, I'm not sure she is a real heavy-ground filly.
