The Raceday Stewards received a request from John Patrick Ryan, trainer of Shining Silver, for permission to run his charge without hind shoes. The trainer stated that his charge is a very difficult individual and his own farrier had failed to shoe the animal prior to today. Having considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards allowed the request on this occasion having consulted with the Clerk of the Course and the I.H.R.B. Veterinary Officer and took no further action other than to remind Mr. Ryan of his responsibilities under Regulation 16 to seek permission in advance for such a request in future

Mr D. Doyle, rider of Nelson Muntz, trained by David Harry Kelly, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount suffered interference in the closing stages

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Kinnagrelly Boy (GB), ridden by Eoin G. Kelly, Nelson Muntz, ridden by Mr D. Doyle, unplaced and Miss Dishy, ridden by Miss F. Leaney, placed third, where it appeared that Nelson Muntz ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Eoin G. Kelly stated that a horse appeared on his inner and there was no room for him. He further stated that he suffered interference and was bumped outwards and made contact with the horse on his outside. Mr. D. Doyle stated that there was plenty of room for him to make his challenge and he suffered interference from his outside and caused him to strike the wing and later the rail. Miss F. Leaney stated that she suffered interference from her inside

Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards wer satisfied that Mr

D. Doyle was in breach of Rule 214 (careless riding) and having considered his clean record they suspended him for two racedays

The Raceday Stewards received a report from Mr. P. Moloney, I.H.R.B. Clerk of the Course, in relation to Races 6 and 7 that there was a distance adjustment to facilitate the starting point in these races for safety reasons. Both races were run over a distance of 2m 4f and 51 yards. Having considered the report, the Raceday Stewards using their powers suspended Rule 53, in that the required number of fences (12) would not be jumped on this occasion

An I.N.H. flat race for four years old and upwards that have not won a race under any N.H. Rules or Rules of Racing
Weights - 4-y-o 11st 9lbs 5-y-o and up 12st Mares allowed 7lbs
Riders - Qualified Riders under I.N.H.S. Rules. Professional Riders under I.N.H.S. Rules (other than Apprentices) who have not lost the right to claim the 7lb allowance under Rule 52 (up to and including 13th June) may also ride in this race.
