Aidan O'Brien landed a four-timer at Navan on a card dominated by the family as son Joseph notched his first treble to step up the pressure on the leaders in the apprentices' title race.< Don Carlos provided the highlight of the Ballydoyle foursome in the feature Newgrange Race, and he was the only one ridden by stable jockey Johnny Murtagh.< Choose Me tried to lead all the way and battled on to keep Mid Mon Lady out of second spot, but she had no answer to Don Carlos (9-2), who only had to be shaken up to score by a cosy length and a quarter on his return from a long lay-off.
Murtagh was out of luck with the first two Ballydoyle winners as he was on the wrong one both times.
Joseph O'Brien was in the plate as Eirnin nailed Murtagh's mount Diamond Brooch on the line in a rough race for the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.

The apprentice initiated his own treble on Tom Mullins' smart chaser Fosters Cross (25-1), who put two pulled-up runs over fences well behind him with a three-length victory in the October Maiden.
The Charles O'Brien-trained Jedward (7-1) stormed down the centre of the track under Fran Berry and grabbed Nidian in the final furlong to take the Kells Maiden by two and a half lengths.
