He looked to have stolen the advantage as he was still in front turning for home, but as Hayes switched to the outside down the straight, Rose Hip began to fly.
She collared the long-time leader inside the final furlong, pulling a couple of lengths clear before digging deep to repel the late challenge of 7-4 favourite Shintoh by a length and a quarter.
Murphy said: "She's very good. We have her in the Pretty Polly Stakes, it might be a step too far for her but on that win she's entitled to take her chance.
"She's 5lb better here than anywhere else."
Hayes was completing a double after scoring on 20-1 Money Trader in the Foxrock Handicap earlier on the card
Winning handler Jim Gorman said: "The plan was to run here and then maybe go for the Scurries next weekend.
