Whelan at his best aboard Via Archimede Seventeen year old Ronan Whelan recorded his fifth win when winning the Foxrock Handicap aboard Via Archimede. Whelan made most aboard the son of Hussonet and the 12/1 shot kept on well under a strong drive to hold off the fast finishing Alajan by a head. Ger Flynn who was representing winning trainer Jim Bolger said afterwards: “He’s in the July Sales next week. We’ve given him a pop over hurdles and he jumps well.” “He appreciated the step up in trip and Ronan [Whelan] said he handled the ground well.”
