Wexford suits Tuscan well Tuscan Light took on the 'boys' when third on her debut at Dundalk last month. She found Bettyville and the company of her own sex to her liking when victorious in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Fillies Maiden at Wexford. Settled on the inner 'behind the speed' by Pat Smullen, Tuscan Light was pulled out to deliver her challenge to Madam Mo from over two furlongs out. Indeed she may have accidently received a 'belt on the snout' under two furlongs out from the rider of Madam Mo, Chris Hayes' whip. The victorious Medicean filly twitched her head in the process but to her credit she went through with her effort well, going on to prevail by two and a half lengths. Smullen said of the Prince Khalid Abdulla-owned, Dermot Weld-trained well-backed scorer: "She handled the track well and she cornered well which is important around here. She progressed nicely from her first run and did it well. "She'd be working well enough at home to win a maiden like that." (DM & EM)
