Waterways to travel for Group prizes

Waterways, winner of the Listed Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh last month, is likely to travel abroad in search of Group race glory.

Patrick Prendergast, grand-son and namesake of the legendary trainer who dominated juvenile races in the 1950´s and 60´s, outlined plans after saddling his latest juvenile winner at Bellewstown this evening.

Bye Bye Ben´s victory in the five furlongs auction maiden made it three winners from just four runners in two-year-old events this season for the Curragh handler.

´Waterways has a dirty nose and I have taken the opportunity to give her a little break. She has loads of speed and my feeling is that we should make full use of that by running her over five furlongs,´ said Prendergast.

´She would have to carry a penalty in the Listed Tipperary sprint (August 18) and, while we could go for that, she may travel to Britain or France for a Group race.´
