The Perennial Freight Rated Race was won in comfortable fashion by the Joseph O’Brien-trained Scholastic (7/4 fav).

She tracked the leaders until being sent to the front over two furlongs out and she settled the issue quickly from that point.

At the line she was three and a half lengths ahead of the staying-on Desert Highway (10/3) with the early front-runner Craic Eile keeping on for third at 125/1.

Homebred by winning owner Anne Marie O’Brien, the winning daughter of Zoffany had won twice over a mile previously and handled this step up in trip without any difficulty.

She had won on soft ground at the Curragh last term, so the rain-softened terrain here (going description changed to yielding after this race) was no barrier to her either.

The winning rider was 7lbs claimer Dyaln Browne McMonagle, who said: "That's my first time to ride at Tramore so I got off to a good start.

"It's a grand track for a small horse that can handle the corners well.

"It's riding well and the ground is a bit slow so it was in her favour.

"She jumped off and was a bit wide going around the first bend.

"She was kinda dumped out and ran out a bit, but up past the winning post the first time I got a lovely position and she was the winner a long way out.

"That's thirteen winners now and I have a few more good rides for the rest of the day."
