The Charles Byrnes-trained Rhythm And Tyne landed a gamble in the finale at Dundalk today when asserting in the closing stages of the second division of the ten furlong handicap.
Having been 10/1 this morning the Elzaam gelding was punted into 9/4 favourite on his second outing for the Limerick handler.
There were plenty in with chances passing the furlong pole but it was Adam Caffrey's mount who got on top in the closing stages and held the late challenge of Nawraq by half a length.
Rhythm And Tyne was showing significant improvement having finished eighth on his first start for the yard on soft ground at Naas last month.
Caffrey said: "I thought we would have gone a lot harder. When we got out the back, we kind of went along and I was in a lovely position and I was able to suit myself. He quickened well.
"He has a couple of options (trip) - that probably wasn't the truest run mile and a-quarter.
"Cathal (Byrnes) was here and he tells you what to do as well. They (Byrnes') are very easy people to ride for - keep it nice and simple behind the leaders, mid-div.
"It has been an excellent year and I can't thank everyone enough for all the support including Ado (McGuinness) and all his owners and all my outside winners as well."
On his association with Byrnes (four from 12), he added: "Charles has been a big supporter of mine as well.
"He has been a big help to me since around this time last year when I rode my first winner for him. He has given me plenty of opportunities and support."
