James Lambe and Declan McDonogh had to settle for sixth place with Sir Ector in the featured Saval Beg, but it didn't take long for things to take an upturn for the pair with their Sang Tiger (11/1) landing the RSM Farrell Grant Sparks Handicap at Leopardstown just over an hour later.
Former Liverpool striker Ian Rush was in attendance as a guest of the sponsor and he no doubt would have approved of McDonogh's timing as he delivered the German-bred seven-year-old, equipped with cheek-pieces, to get there in the final fifty yards. At the line three parts of a length split Sang Tiger and the sweet-travelling Storm Away
"He barely got home and may have another run on the flat before going back hurdling," commented Lambe.
"He was brought back in with Galway in mind, and the plan is to go for one of the staying hurdles there.
"He'd not want it any quicker than it was there but he got away with it."
