The Writech Handicap Hurdle was run at a good clip and top-weight The Wallpark (11/1) came from off the pace to score in the hands of Sam Ewing.

Trained for Fran Mangan by Gordon Elliott, the six-year-old by Ask made steady progress on the final circuit and led between the final two flights. Natural Look covered the winner's move and briefly looked a threat but Ewing's mount found more to see off that one's challenge by a length and three quarters.

It was a third hurdles victory for the winner who started off in bumpers for Vincent Ward before switching stables last year

Stable representative Ian ‘Busty’ Amond said: "It was a great ride by Sam. He looked in trouble early on and had to give him a reminder or two to keep his mind on the job.

“He missed the second last but picked up well for Sam.

“He’s won four so if they all did that you’d be going alright. He’s back on track now.”

Ewing added: "I didn't get the best of starts and he didn’t travel early but when he got to the front he wasn’t for passing.”
