Following on from Sincerest earlier, there was a second successful Fastnet Rock filly on the evening at Killarney as The Blue Brilliant landed the featured Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap.

The Coolmore stallion had the last winner here yesterday too, Sea Appeal, on a card where The Blue Brilliant’s trainer and jockey, Jessica Harrington and Shane Foley were successful with Citronnade.

Mrs Magnier is a part owner of the aforementioned Sincerest, and she has The Blue Brilliant in partnership with the three-year-old’s breeders, the Nagles.

After The Blue Brilliant had made a winning handicap debut on the back of her maiden victory at Fairyhouse in May Mrs Harrington said: “I'm delighted with her and while the ground was as quick as she wanted it, she did it and did it well. She is fairly laid-back about everything but I think she is a nice filly and we'll look for black-type before the end of the year.

"She took on the older horses there, which is hard to do because they are battle-hardened and it was her first handicap. She'll get every bit of 1m4f and slower ground would also suit."

The Blue Brilliant got the better of Magic Chegaga towards the finish to score nicely by three parts of a length.

M.A. Gallagher, rider of Pempie trained by Eddie & Patrick Harty, reported to the Clerk of Scales that he lost an iron on leaving the starting stalls but retrieved it after about one hundred yards.

W.J. Lee, rider of Maoilin (USA) trained by P. Twomey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left from inside the two furlong pole.
