Teed Up is fancied to land a second feature race at Galway this week with the Emmet Mullins-trained gelding proving a strong order for the €110,000 Guinness Handicap at 6.35pm.
The son of Gleneagles is a real Galway specialist and landed his fourth course victory in the Connacht Hotel (Q.R.) Handicap here on Monday evening.
Punters fancy the six-year-old to again show his liking for Ballybrit and, despite a 7lb penalty for that latest success, is as short as 9/4 (from 5/1) favourite.
Willie Mullins and Paul Townend teamed up to land the Guinness Galway Hurdle yesterday with Zarak The Brave, and they have the market leader in the €80,000 Guiness Galway Blazers Handicap Chase with Good Bye Sam
The seven-year-old gelding has been backed from 11/2 into a general 3/1 favourite, while Ben Pauling’s raider Your Darling is also proving popular (7/1-4/1).
Mullins has chances elsewhere on the card with Ivana (15/8) in the 7.10 and Mt Leinster appears the stable preferred from three runners in the 8.10.
The opening Guinness Galway Tribes Handicap Hurdle is also worth €80,000 and Buddy One is proving strong in the market - 11/2 into 4/1 with BetVictor.
The six-year-old gelding is trained locally by Paul Gilligan, whose teenage son Danny partnered Ash Tree Meadow to a memorable win in the Tote Galway Plate on Wednesday.
One of the best backed horses this morning is Fratas in the Arthur Guinness Handicap (7.40). The Mick Mulvany-trained filly was third over 1m4f here earlier this week and has been supported from 16/1 into as low as 6/1 over this extended mile.
