Last of ten on his return to action in September, Teddy O'Neill sprang a 25/1 surprise in the Tote Never Beaten By SP Apprentice Handicap to provide owner/trainer Donal Kinsella and jockey Tom Kiely Marshall with their first winners of the season.

Having raced close to the pace, the four-year-old went past front-runner La Dame Blanche over a furlong out and went away to account for that rival by three lengths.

“He’d been off a good while and had some health issues like a lot of people are having with rapeseed," said Kinsella

“He was fifth last year in a Curragh maiden and third at Galway last year so we knew the ground was right and the kid was right.”
