Tartlette and Heffernan a brilliant combination A course and distance winner here a fortnight back for the Eyeroller Syndicate, Shane Crawley and Seamie Heffernan, Tartlette followed up in the Willie Buckley Memorial Handicap at Dundalk this afternoon. Alhajjaj was the one to aim at in a clear lead up front, as Tartlette was again patiently handled. The pace-setting grey came back to his rivals in the straight, fading from over a furlong out into his finishing position of second last. Meanwhile once taking over the victorious 15/8 market-leader wasn’t long about asserting down the outer inside the final furlong, to account for Blackstone Cliff by three and a quarter lengths. “I'm delighted. Seamie gets on brilliant with her. He was a bit worried with the horse going off in front but luckily we caught him,” said Crawley. “She's in a good place at the minute. You'd like to think there is a nice pot in her during the summer but she'd need very good ground for that. “She got 9lb the last day and they say the handicapper is never wrong! “She's in a good place at the minute and we'd have been mad not to run her tonight. We'll see how she comes out of it and see if there is another race suitable here but if not she might get a little break.” Following a request from broadcasters, the Stewards granted permission for the following delays: Race 2 2 minutes The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Faakhirah, trained by Adrian McGuinness, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame left hind post race.
