As is the norm in sprint handicaps, there was plenty of competition for racing room in the Trinity Racing Society Handicap at the Curragh but Great Minds avoided any impediment to take the spoils under Wayne Lordan for Tommy Stack.
A gamble when just foiled by today's Lincolnshire hope Shipyard and then an even money failure at Redcar, Great Minds was pitched into handicap company here off a 156 day break on a programme where his yard often does well.
After he'd beaten Srucahan by two and a half lengths, Fozzy Stack explained: "He was a bit unlucky at Navan one day last year when he got mugged on the line and I probably ran him back a bit too quick after that at Redcar.
"He wants a dig in the ground and if we get a wet summer he'll be alright."
Srucahan had to be switched to the outer to secure a clear passage whilst eventual sixth home Sun On The Run ran into trouble more than once.
K.J. Manning, rider of Sun On The Run, trained by J. S. Bolger, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran short of room in the closing stages.
