Odds-on favourite Spinamiss got home under Chris Hayes, in a blanket finish to the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Fillies Maiden at Limerick, to build on her excellent debut second placing for trainer Paul Deegan.
"She still doesn't know she's a racehorse and was quite babyish today," said Deegan.
"Chris said that it was the wrong way to ride her and she was only doing enough. It was only when the other horse (Wreckless, fourth) came to challenge her that she went on again.
"Today's race wasn't as bad a race as it might have initially looked, and I'd say the runner-up is a fair filly. We'll run Spinamiss in the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown next."
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the straight involving Optimism And Hope ridden by W.J. Lee, placed fifth, Orangey Red ridden by L.F. Roche, placed third, Spinamiss, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed first and Wreckless ridden by C.T. Keane, placed fourth.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that both C.D.Hayes and L.F.Roche were in breach of Rule 214, in that they rode carelessly and having considered their records they were suspended for one race day.
W.J. Lee, rider of Optimism And Hope trained by T. Stack, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount met with interference in running.
L.F. Roche, rider of Orangey Red trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran green.
