Bambino takes 2024 finale to complete double for Mullins Despite a market drift, the Willie Mullins-trained Bambino Fever ran out an easy winner of the concluding Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race. Previously trained by Nicky Stokes and the winner of a four-runner point-to-point at Stowlin in May, the Jukebox Jury bay was as short as evens in early shows for this two and a quarter mile contest. Remaining favourite but drifting to a starting price of 5/2, the soon to be five-year-old raced in mid-division on the inner under Patrick Mullins. Taking closer order with half-a-mile to race, the chestnut victor eased to the front early in the straight and eventually came home five-lengths to the good in the colours of the O'Connell Morgan Syndicate. Placed for the fourth time in-a-row, Derryville (9/2) filled the runner-up spot under David Doyle, while David Broad's Champagne Venture (33/1) was another three and three parts of a length back in third. "That looked a nice performance. A good strong filly who was very hard on herself throughout the race," the winning trainer, who earlier took the third with Sainte Lucie, commented. "She looks a nice one to go jumping with having won her point-to-point. "I'd say we'll take our chance in the Grade 2 mares bumper at the DRF." Additional reporting by Alan Magee
