Goulane Jessie (16/1) landed the Mallow Handicap Hurdle (80-95) (Div I) in the hands of Denis O’Regan.

The 9-year-old daughter of Well Chosen, winning for the second time over hurdles, was produced to lead at the second-last and stayed on well to account for Ask David (18/1) by two and three quarters of a length with 10/3 joint-favourite Get Home back in third.

Seamus Spillane trains the winner locally and his son Dinny commented: “She has been knocking on the door and the last day she got bumped at the first in Tramore in a handicap chase and jumped a bit cowardly afterwards but still wasn't beaten too far.

"I thought the ground would be a bit quick but she got away with it and the three miles was a big help.

"It'll all depend on the weather, whether or not she is staying in (training) for another while and she might be covered. Hopefully we might win a chase with her first."
