The odds on 10/11 favourite Shadow Eile followed up on her recent win at Galway as she came home an easy winner of the I.T.B.A Fillies Scheme Novice Hurdle for her trainer Dot Love with Shay Barry in the saddle.
Having won on her hurdling debut at Galway last time out she was well fancied to deliver today and she didn’t disappoint hit the front six out, going clear from the second last and keeping on well to score by six and a half lengths from 16/1 shot Back In A Tic in second. Meitheamh at 11/2, who finished second in this race last year, could only manage third this time around five and a half lengths back.
Winning trainer Dot Love said afterwards: "She did it even better than at Galway. Shay (Barry) gave her a beautiful ride. She is a smashing mare with a lovely temperament.
"She will go for a Mares Hurdle next at Punchestown on October 13th. She is such a good jumper and her future lies over fences. We will be minding her with that in mind.
"She is best on good to yielding ground but she handles this ground very well."
