Salsify stars at Stratford Salsify confirmed his position as the leading hunter chaser in Britain and Ireland when justifying 6/4 favouritism in the W S Recycling Stratford Foxhunters Champion Hunters’ Chase. Very patiently ridden by Colman Sweeney for his father Rodger, the seven-year-old struck the front at the final fence of this three and a half mile test and was just pushed out to beat That’s Rhythm (14/1) by two and a quarter lengths. Oca De Thaix helped set a very strong pace along with Earth Dream, and the 100/1 outsider kept on gamely in the straight to take third a further ten lengths adrift. Zemsky failed to land a blow inside the final mile of this £25,000 event.
