Plenty of Irish interest at Stratford this evening with the latest two winners of the Christie’s Foxhunter Chase, Zemsky and Salsify, both lining up in the W S Recycling Stratford Foxhunters Champion Hunters’ Chase.

Salsify took the Raymond Smith Memorial Hunters Chase at Leopardstown before his Prestbury Park triumph for the father and son team of Rodger and Colman Sweeney in March.

The seven-year-old son of Beneficial was bidding for a hat-trick the following month at Fairyhouse when falling two out in the Joseph O’Reilly Memorial Hunters Chase.

That Fairyhouse event also marked the reappearance of Zemsky, who not surprisingly tired in the straight to finish sixth following a 13 months lay-off.

A much improved performance is now expected from Ian Ferguson’s charge in this €25,000 contest over three and a half miles, with the home challenge headed by the likes of Postmaster and Earth Dream.

Ferguson also saddles recent Down Royal third Casson earlier on the card in a novice event.
