Richard O'Brien registers '1-3' in Dundalk's finale Benavente got off the mark at the third attempt at Dundalk today as the Richard O'Brien trained gelding landed the concluding Join On Instagram @dundalk_stadium Race under jockey Shane Foley. The son of Twilight Son contested a hot Naas maiden on debut last June, won by subsequent Phoenix Stakes winner Lucky Vega, and having returned to action just last month, today reversed January form with Devil's Outlaw, whom he today defeated by three parts of a length into second place. Afterwards Co Limerick based trainer O'Brien stated “that's great and I'm delighted with him. “He had a nice smooth run from his last race to this and we were hoping he'd go and do something like that, I thought he was quite taking. “Dusty (Shane Foley) said he's still a baby. It's messy out there with the head-wind and everything. He said he just went away and did it fairly well. “We can have a look at a variety of options for him now but it's nice to get a win with him.” O'Brien was also responsible for third-placed Eloso in the race, with both horses carrying the colours of owner Frank Lynch.
