Redemption for Bob at Ballinrobe Connections and backers Bob Le Beau must have been pretty despondent when the former Listed winner on the level was emphatically beaten at odds of 9/10 at Limerick last time. However there was redemption for the six-year-old in the Mayo News Maiden Hurdle at Ballinrobe under Robbie Power. The easier track and a change of tactics helped the 9/2 shot get the better of favourite Spot Fine from before the straight. He then had to fend off the well-backed Phillys Fancy (7s into 7/2) which he managed to achieve from the back of the last by two and a quarter lengths. Power explained of the Jessica Harrington-trained and Dean Ryan-owned victor: "He's a brilliant jumper. We decided to change tactics with him because we cut his throat the last day. "He stays well and he's very genuine." (DM & EM)
