Quirt Evans (4/5 fav, from 7/4 this morning) ran out a comfortable winner of the Make A Day Trip To Tramore Maiden Hurdle.

Like the previous race winner Gendarme Quirt Evans had been in action just two days ago at Wexford, where he was beaten a short head in a similar event.

On this occasion, the Getaway gelding chased the leaders and travelled well throughout, before hitting the front on the run to two out.

From there he went away under Sean Flanagan to score by six lengths from Optional Mix (6/1).

Winning trainer David O’Brien, enhancing his fine track record at Tramore, said: "That was good compensation for getting touched off on Friday. It was just the nod of a head and Sean said he was in front before and after the line. He came out the race well though.

"I'm delighted for my daughter Stacey (leading up the winner) as it was her birthday on Friday and we were hoping he would win for her there, but we are just as happy now.

"He always promised to be a nice horse. He had a couple of good runs in bumpers and Sean said he loved that quick ground.

"He will probably go for a novice now as he will probably be high enough in the handicap. He will probably go chasing towards the end of the summer as he jumps well and ran in a point-to-point."
