Queen Grace at 10/1, in the first-time cheekpieces and with Connor King on board, dominated from the front in the five furlong rated race at Dundalk.
King bounced the six-year-old mare out smartly from gate five to lead, with Tylery Wonder My Good Brother and Speed Dream nestled in behind. Toccata Blue raced off the pace in fifth.
Upon turning in, Queen Grace had her rivals off the bridle. King though had kept enough up his sleeve as the closers started to cut into his lead. Queen Grace and King came in by half a length and a head from 5/2 favourite My Good Brother and Speed Dream (9/2).
Trainer and owner Michael Browne said: “She’s been threatening that for a while. When I saw this race I thought it was readymade for her and I knew she was in great form coming here today.
“She’s going to be covered next year and that’s a real thrill to win today.”
All Ablaze was a non-runner due to being lame. This left eight runners to contest the spoils.
