Torcedor just held off Fog Of War to the last at the Curragh, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF 'Northfields' Handicap.
The David Wachman trained three-year-old won his maiden on his fourth start at the Curragh in July before finishing half a length second to Harasava on his handicap debut at the Galway Festival.
Sent off a 12/1 chance today he was settled behind the leaders by Wayne Lordan.
He was pushed along in fourth as they entered the straight and he got a nice clear run from the two furlong pole, keeping on well to lead inside the final furlong before holding off the late challenge of Fog Of War by a short head.
The runner-up was returned a 20/1 chance under Oisin Murphy for Ger Lyons while the front running Maudlin Magdalen (33/1 to 25/1 on-course) was half a length back in third under Killian Leonard for Donal Kinsella.
Tadem (10/1) completed the placings a further half a length back in fourth under Pat Smullen for Dermot Weld. Green Light and Unsinkable were sent off the 5/1 joint-favourites and they both disappointed finished eleventh and seventeenth respectively.
David Wachman said afterwards: "He's a nice horse and did it well. He's an improving horse.
"He ran well in Galway. He'll be a nice four-year-old next year. He's very big and is only coming to himself.
"That was a nice pot to win. That was the plan but there's no reason we couldn't find another spot for him this year."
STEWARDS REPORT
The Stewards interviewed W.M. Lordan, rider of Torcedor, winner, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion W.M. Lordan was in breach of Regulation 10 3 (f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency, and having taken his record into account, they suspended him for 1 raceday.
