The John Oxx trained Primogeniture got off the mark on his sixth start as he took the last at Fairyhouse, the Like Fairyhouse on Facebook Handicap.
Having finished third on his last outing over a mile and two at Navan he was stepped up to a mile and a half for the first time today.
Sent off a 9/2 chance the three-year-old son of Glory Of Dance was ridden in fourth two furlongs out.
He came with his challenge inside the final furlong and he kept on best from there, hitting the front close home before going on to score by three parts of a length. Captain Teemo who was sent off the well-backed 6/4 favourite (opened at 9/4 on-course), was in front over a furlong out but he couldn’t hold off the winner and he had to settle for second under Colin Keane for Ger Lyons.
John Oxx said afterwards: "My horses have been running well all day and I thought he was probably my best chance. He has improved with the bit of extra distance.
"He is an interesting horse in that he was conceived in India. The dam (Jacqueline) is an Indian triple-crown winner and she came over here to go to Galileo.
"He will probably go for a mile and a half handicap at Galway."
