Primo Uomo justified good support as the 2/1 favourite recorded a convincing victory in the Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Rated Race at Dundalk.
His task was eased somewhat after chief market rival Lady Mega was withdrawn after getting upset in the stalls and bursting out under the starting gate.
The Eddie Lynam-trained filly, a 7/2 chance resulting in a Rule 4 deduction of 20 cent in the euro to bets struck at board prices prior to withdrawal, ran loose for a while before being caught.
Lynam said, “She needs to go in late but was in for a while as another horse (Seychelloise) got upset. She obviously didn’t want to stay in the stalls and decided to get out. She has a sore left shoulder but Robbie (Downey, jockey) is fine.” Tylery Wonder showed typical speed but was headed by the Ger O’Leary-trained winner about a furlong out, and Killian Leonard’s mount stayed on well to score by two and a half lengths. Golden Pearl kept on inside the final furlong to take the runner-up spot, with Tylery Wonder a further neck back in third.
