Pizarro on course for Drinmore

Pizarro got his chasing career off to a winning start when putting in a fine round of jumping in the two miles and a furlong beginners chase at Clonmel this afternoon.

The six-year-old gelding was prominent throughout under Barry Geraghty, and justified odds of 4/5 by coming home five lengths clear of Atlantic Rhapsody. Edward O´Grady´s charge did edge towards the stands´ side from the last, possibly due to the close proximity of the stabling area.

´I am very happy with him, and particularly pleased with his jumping,´ said O´Grady, who added, ´He will be better over a longer trip, and the Drinmore Chase at Fairyhouse is the natural progression. I was concerned he might be a bit short today, and he´s only had two schools.´

Looking further ahead, O´Grady nominated the William Neville Novice Chase at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting with the Royal & SunAlliance Chase the main target.

Back In Front is in good form prior to the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown on Sunday, where possible rivals include stable-companion Sacundai and Solerina.
