Ross Geragthy who celebrated his birthday today got the perfect birthday present when he won The Mick Holly Memorial Handicap Chase Grade B aboard the Noel Meade trained Island Life
Geraghty was deputising for the injured Paul Carberry who hurt his knee yesterday at Navan when he got a fall from Charlie Yardbird.
Meade said afterwards, "Ross [Geraghty] has been a lucky jockey for me, he gave him a great ride and was very strong on him all the way to the line. I don't know what happened this horse but he seems to be getting back to himself. He was nearly sold but he let out a few coughs so he wasn't sold in the end. He'd have no problem in getting 3 miles, he doesn't like the quick ground and hopefully he'll go for a novice chase at Punchestown."
