Parkers Mill just held off the late challenge of Taameer to land the Mocklershill Stables Race over 1m 1f for his trainer Tommy Stack with Wayne Lordan in the saddle.
The 4yo son of High Chaparral dropped back in trip this evening after running over 1m 6f at Killarney last time out.
Sent off at 9/4 he was held up early on and was fourth at the halfway stage. He made headway into third two furlongs out and was ridden with a furlong left to race.
He kept on well to lead inside the final 100 yards and he just held off the late surge of Taameer with Declan McDonogh aboard (7/1) by a short head. Unanimous who was going for a hat-trick of wins, was sent off the 6/4 favourite for Aidan and Joseph O’Brien but he didn’t seem to stay the trip and faded close home to finish fourth.
Fozzy Stack, whose wife Lucy owns the winner, said afterwards: "He has been frustrating and on that he looks like he would stay further.
"In or around a mile and a quarter is probably his trip. He has plenty of ability and jumping a hurdle is probably the next road for him.
"He will have his next run on the flat though, probably in a premier handicap or another conditions race."
