I've Got Rhythm got off the mark at Wexford today as the Conor O'Dwyer trained four year old landed the Loch Garman Handicap Hurdle (div 1) under jockey Ricky Doyle.
The son of Approve had previously failed to win in seven starts but did finish second on his previous start at Down Royal on May 7 and today went another placing better, when scoring a three parts of a length win over Montauk Flyer
Wexford native O'Dwyer was recording his second winner at the venue in as many meetings and later quipped "I must come back here more often!”
He added “Hugo (Kane, owner) bought him off us before his last run and a reproduction of that run was going to see him go close, but it doesn't always work out like that!
"He jumped super and travelled well, and while there was a bit of carnage around the place, we'll take a bit of luck when we get it. I'd say in time he will be a horse who needs a trip and he has turned into a different horse since he started jumping a few hurdles. It mightn't have been the strongest contest in the world but they are not easily won.”
The winner is declared to run at Tipperary tomorrow but O'Dwyer said “he won't run tomorrow, he is only four and I think it would be a bit unfair on him."
