O'Connell awaits extent of damage Eddie O'Connell will have to wait until Tuesday at the earliest before finding out the full extent of his injuries after a bone-crunching fall from Baracas in the Boylesports.com Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown on Saturday. O'Connell's right elbow is the principal cause of concern but x-rays taken yesterday evening proved inconclusive. His agent Niall Cronin explained, "The x-rays taken at St Vincent's Hospital were unable to determine whether his right elbow was broken. There is alot of swelling around the area and he will probably have it checked out again on Tuesday. "Eddie has alot of soft tissue injuries as he was kicked by most of the field but hopefully the damage is not too serious." The Eoin Griffin-trained Baracas was prominent in second place when falling at the fourth flight in the valuable 30-runner handicap. O'Connell has ridden 29 winners so far this season, leaving him sixth in the jump jockey's table.
