Nobody Home made it three wins in the past 11 months when taking the Gleesons Butchers Novice Handicap Hurdle for local trainer Eddie Cawley at Fairyhouse.
Cawley trains only about ten minutes from the track near Batterstown, and the eight-year-old gelding was given a fine patient ride by Chris Timmons.
The 16/1 chance made good headway in the straight, and stayed on well on the run-in to peg back another outsider Global Fert (20/1).
The winning margin was a length and a half with Sparky Stowaway who was far from fluent at the last, another five and a half lengths back in third.
Cawley said, “We were hoping for better ground and his best runs so far had been on better ground. He’s run over three miles and stays this trip well.
“He’s an experienced horse and a good jumper with all his chasing experience. Chris gave him a confident ride and got him switched off out the back. He pulled him out on a bit of fresh ground around Ballyhack and he just took off.”
He added, “Forever Gold has sneaked in at the bottom of the weights for the National. We are promised a lot of rain but I would hope we don’t get too much. I think he can run very well.”
