No problems at Clonmel

Despite the arctic temperatures last night, racing goes ahead at Clonmel this afternoon with the Listed Surehaul Mercedes-Benz Novice Hurdle the feature on a seven race card.

The action gets underway at 1.40pm and the going remains heavy.

Temperatures dipped to -6C overnight, and Punchestown have taken the precaution of putting down frost covers on their hurdle and chase tracks ahead of Sunday's meeting. The provisional ground description is also heavy.

Racing tomorrow takes place under the lights on the polytrack at Dundalk, while the focus switches back to National Hunt action at Fairyhouse on Saturday.

The Co. Meath track is currently unfit for racing due to frost, although officials are hopeful with temperatures due to rise by Saturday.

The weather forecast is to remain cold and dry today, with the prospect of some wintry showers crossing the country on Friday.
