Nivek's Dream proved strongest up the hill to claim the opening maiden hurdle at Downpatrick.
It was a three-way battle from the last as Mr Dazza was challenged by Tango Foxtrot and the eventual winner.
Tango Foxtrot failed to see out the trip and it was Pat Martin's charge who proved strongest in the closing stages to get the better of Mr Dazza by a length-and-a-quarter.
"He ran at Musselburgh last back end and was disappointing so Pat decided to give him a break," said winning jockey Andrew Thornton.
"He's was placed in a couple of bumpers around here. He'll get further in time."
