Second in the opener with 33/1 shot, Hammersmith James Nash and Gavin Brouder went a place better in race three at Fairyhouse as Alohamora convincingly took the spoils in the Fairyhouse Members 2020 Handicap Hurdle.
Now a six-year-old, the successful chestnut daughter of English Channel flew over the final couple of fences to win a Limerick handicap chase on her previous outing at Christmas.
Back over flights today and with first-time cheek-pieces added, Alohamora put her stamp on this three miler from two out.
Brouder and the mare could afford to do their own thing in the final fifty yards and still have eight and a half lengths in hand over favourite, Thunder Down Under
“We were delighted with her in Limerick,” said Nash.
“I had her in the amateur race tomorrow at Punchestown and just with the weight here, 9-9 after Gavin's claim, that's what made me come here.
“She did it well and she stays great. I said after she won in Limerick that you couldn't go far enough and all she does is stay.
“The young lad is riding great. The horse in the first and her were two particularly good rides for a claimer.
“I don't know where we go with her now but there are loads of options for her. She could go either over hurdles or fences now that we know she jumps so well.”
E. Walsh, rider of Killer Miller trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount made a few jumping errors early on.
