Mutakarrim to go one better in hurdle Mutakarrim is fancied to go one better than last year and land the E170,000 Guinness Galway Hurdle for Ballybrit specialist Dermot Weld.The dual purpose six-year-old was runner-up to Say Again in 2002, and has been campaigned on the Flat since just touched off in a Grade 2 novice hurdle at the Punchestown Festival.The master of Rosewell House also saddles Direct Bearing, who made all for an easy win in the opener today.The 24 runner line-up is a typically competitive renewal, and course winner Puck Out, Cloone River and King?s Opera are others for the shortlist.The jackpot pool is again guaranteed for E70,000, and Weld can provide the banker in the first leg, the two and a half miles novice hurdle, with Lowlander.The other two jackpot races are tricky Flat handicaps, although Dbest looks capable of carrying a 5lb penalty in the mile contest having won here on Monday.La Shalak is a consistent sort, and merits the vote against a maximum of 17 rivals in the mile and a half handicap.Alan Magee
