Murphy continues winning streak with Galtee Mist Galtee Mist continued the red-hot recent form of trainer Joe Murphy when taking the Pat Smullen Handicap in fine style at Listowel. The Fethard handler was recording his sixth winner in just over a fortnight and brought his tally for the season to 11 as the well-backed 9/2 chance landed this six-furlong event. Available at 12/1 early in the day before a few of her rivals were taken out, the five-year-old mare was never too far from the pace and took control under Gary Carroll inside the final furlong to beat Mudawy by two lengths. Mogwli could find no extra a further neck back in third, while 3/1 favourite Is That Love could only manage fifth in her bid to complete a four-timer. Murphy said, “She’s a nice mare and that’s her fourth win. She’ll go to Gowran on Monday and then we’ll try to get a bit of black type with her. She handles any ground.” He added, “It’s a credit to Listowel for remembering Pat and I’ve a great affiliation for him myself. He won plenty of races for me here and I especially remember him winning a big handicap with Rose Hip (at the Festival meeting in 2009). He was a special man and I’m proud to win this race.”
