Fourth over course and distance in August, Just For One Day (9/2) stepped forward from that second career outing to win the Fitzpatricks Mercedes-Benz Maiden over six furlongs.

Carrying the colours of Mrs Paul Shanahan and former trainer David Wachman, the daughter of No Nay Never was fractious in the stalls before racing close to the pace under Killian Leonard. Ridden to lead inside the final furlong, she kept on well to account for Badda Bing by a length-and-a-half.

Trainer Mark Molloy said: “We're very happy, she's been promising but she'd just been a slow burner. Luckily she has very patient owners, which is great.

“I think she'll keep progressing, I hope she will anyway. She's just green, we've mainly jumpers at home so she's a bit quicker than everything else we have at the moment, thankfully.

“We'll take this in and look for another race down the road. I think she could potentially develop into a black-type filly. She's a nice filly for the future.

“It's frustrating because at home she walks into the stalls and stands but it's purely getting it all together for her and that's why we haven't been rushing her.”
