Mighty Tom gave the father and son team of Tom and Bryan Cooper a winner in the Corrib Oil Maiden Hurdle over an extended two miles at Galway.
The 7/1 chance set the pace throughout. He looked to have a challenge on his hands at the final flight as the 8/11 favourite Run For Oscar took closer order but the latter fluffed his lines at that obstacle.
Mighty Tom didn't need an invite to run home by a length and three quarters at 7/1.
The aforementioned 'jolly' had to be content with the runner-up berth by a length and a half from Julies Stowaway (3/1).
Bryan Cooper said: "We've always liked him, he is a forward going type and it was 2m4f the last day and he was just collared on the run-in and we knew he'd improve.
"We were very confident coming here today and he has a gear. He is very good, I think he'd be better going the other way and hopefully dad can hold on to him now.
"We won this race ten years ago with The Shepherd King in the same colours."
