Donagh Meyler booted home a 62/1 double in Naas when Little Mixup showed his rivals a clean pair of heels in the handicap hurdle for horses rated up to 130.
He was always prominent in this 18-runner race and scooted away before the last. His quick action devoured the drying ground and he powered away after the final flight to score as he pleased by five lengths.
The six-year-old gelding was a drifter from 9/1 in the morning out to an SP of 22/1. Wajaaha kept on for second at 50/1 and was a head in front of Hey Johnny (4/1). Carnfunnock was another four and a half lengths adrift at 10/3.
Trainer Denis Hogan said: "That was brilliant. I thought it might be the other way around coming here today, that I might win the maiden (with runner-up Thecompanysergeant and the handicapper might have had a hold of this lad.
“He's improving away, he relished the nicer ground. Because he won on heavy, we thought that's what he wanted but he's versatile. We'll find something similar for him.
“He missed a year with an injury and there were question marks if he would even come back. Now he's after really bouncing back.
“It's unfortunate for Mark junior (McDonagh) that the weights were too light for him, but I'm sure he'll be on him the next day and claim off him.”
Meyler's other winner was on 7/4 Corbetts Cross in the Grade 2 novice hurdle. The double paid 62.25/1.
