Review NAVAN 20TH APR

Diamond Trim (1/1-4/5f) began the campaign in the best possible style with a facile success in the European Breeders Fund Fillies Race at Navan on Saturday.

The four year-old, who was conceding weight all round, made most and drew clear of Dibiya up the hill to earn a possible tilt at a Group 2 event in Germany next month.

'She loves that soft ground, and has probably improved a bit from three to four,' said trainer Dermot Weld, who will also consider the Mooresbridge Stakes for his charge's next outing.

The concluding Music & Celebrity Race produced a real turn-up, with red-hot favourite Pugin managing only eighth behind 16/1 shot Holy Orders.

No-one was more surprised than the winner's trainer Willie Mullins. 'He hadn't been pleasing me at all, and I told the owner to stay at home. But the blinkers obviously worked, and he'll run at Punchestown now,' he said.

Petite Histoire opened her account at the third time of asking when fairly trouncing the opposition in the EBF Median Auction Maiden.

The Desert Story filly, runner-up on both previous starts, made all and had fully eight lengths to spare over nearest rival Flamingo Bay at the finish.

'We've been holding on to her, but she has plenty of speed and we thought we'd let her pop out and go today,' said trainer Kevin Prendergast, who mentioned the Marble Hill Stakes as a likely target.
