Review NAAS 9TH MAY

Toto Caelo, the medium of a tidy gamble at Fairyhouse last month, followed up again under Paul Moloney when making every yard a winning one in the 2m4f handicap hurdle.

Supported from 6/4-11/10f, the Sean Mulryan-owned 5yo, off an 8lb higher mark, jumped for fun up front before shrugging off the challenge of Tessano Queen by 1 1/2L.

'He bounced off the ground. He's won twice now so that's the job done but we'll try for another, I suppose,' said winning trainer Christy Roche.

Tom Taaffe has chasing in mind for Klohho after the 4/1 chance opened his account over timber in the hands of Barry Geraghty.

'Barry gave him a super ride as he got two breathers into him when he needed them. I won't run him on very hard ground so I may give him a break until September,' said Taaffe.

'He's as nice a horse we've had in a long, long time,' remarked Straffan-trainer Irene Oakes after Frosty Wind made a winning seasonal bow for Niall McCullagh in the 7f maiden.

Button Down, subject of early support at 5/1, could finish only 3rd as McCullagh's mount, despite running green, came home 2 1/2L clear of Crusset.

'I really fancied him today as we think an awful lot of him. I might chance a Listed race next,' Oakes said.

Bookmakers got a result in the 2nd div. of the 7f maiden when Jason Behan and Distant Truce (16/1) kept on well on the rails from the 2f pole to defeat Dream (9/4-3/1-11/4) and Business Elite (6/4-5/4f).

'That was a pleasant surprise as we didn't expect him to win,' said a stunned Ger O'Leary, son of Curragh trainer Pat who is currently on holiday.

The 16/1 shot resulted in a Jackpot Rollover of #3,079 to the next meeting at Naas on Monday June 4th.

Ger Lyons expressed his surprise after 20/1 shot Caffrey's Gold landed the opening 6f handicap under Timmy Houlihan while Dame Portia (7/2-9/2cf) made it third time lucky this term when taking the 1m3f fillies handicap.

Racing concluded with Kildare (4/1) getting up close home to defeat John James much to the joy of the local faithful with Hartigan (1/2-4/7f) a disappointing 4th after travelling well into the straight.
